Today we celebrate those who have served.<\/h5>\n
Specifically:<\/h5>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0The 6,251 American soldiers killed in the Middle East since 2001.<\/h5>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0The 1,695 killed in and around Afghanistan.<\/h5>\n
And a reminder:<\/h5>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0Three American presidents prosecuted a war in Southeast Asia in<\/h5>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0which 58,220 Americans lost their lives for the theory of dominoes.<\/h5>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0In Korea, 36,914 Americans were killed lost their lives for what may or may not<\/h5>\n
\u00a0 \u00a0have involved dominoes.<\/h5>\n
It is not, one suspects, a matter of domino theory. Rather, these Americans\u00a0died because our leaders had the power to order them into harm’s way. It comes down to\u00a0Lord Acton:\u00a0“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”<\/h5>\n
